A FORMER church in north Belfast is to be demolished, more than a decade after it was closed due to leaks in the roof.

The Church of the Resurrection on Cavehill Road was closed in 2008, 30 years after it first opened.

Holy Family Parish launched a consultation on what should happen to the site.

It was announced in the parish bulletin that there was “overwhelming agreement that the best solution at this stage was for the demolition of the building”.

Tendering and site demolition works scheduled to commence in the early part of 2023.
